Our retail store at 485 Ruthven Street, is located in the heart of the Toowoomba CBD and is central to an ever growing Arts District in Toowoomba. Our experienced artist staff service the great west of Queensland and down into western NSW. We combine your shopping experience with onsite custom framing, the MyArt Studio and Creative Space.

We are the largest art material supplier in Queensland, outside of Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We stock artist quality products from around the globe, including English, French, Italian, German, Japanese, American and Australian brands. With supplies available in the mediums of drawing, watercolour, gouache, oils, acrylics, printmaking, pastels and DIY framing (to name a few), you’re sure to find something to ignite your creative spark.

Meet Our Staff

Sue McMaster

Sue McMaster

Business Owner/Manager

Sue McMaster is an experienced portrait painter, she has developed a hyper-real meets pop art style through her explorations of contemporary art, while studying B.Cr.Arts at USQ. Sue has exhibited in group shows over the last 20 years and exhibited at TRAG 2011 & 2014.

As a manager Sue has injected enthusiasm, order and new ideas into Murray’s. She aims to keep improving the product range and customer service while fostering a cheerful and welcoming work environment.

 

Graham McMaster

Graham McMaster

Business Owner

Graham comes from a background in manufacturing with experience managing a family business. His interest in the arts has been fostered by Sue and he is an avid art collector.

Graham is keen to improve operations in the workshop and is developing his skills in picture framing.

Allan Scurr

Allan Scurr

Picture Framer

Allan works as a freelance photographer in the magazine and advertising industry. He has exhibited in group shows and at TRAG in 2011 & 2015.

Allan is our full time picture framer with both nationally and internationally recognised picture framing certification. He is meticulous in his attention to detail.

Roslyn Hartwig

Roslyn Hartwig

MyArt Gallery, Studio & Workshops Coordinator

Roslyn started her art career in 1998 and has specialized in watercolour painting. She has held several solo exhibitions in South-East Queensland, the most recent in 2015. She tutors regularly both at Murray’s and elsewhere. Roslyn works with oils and pastels and enjoys drawing and painting ‘en plein air.

Roslyn manages the MyArt Gallery and Studio, as well coordinating the workshops and classes held here on site. As Murray’s longest serving employee, her extensive knowledge of the shop products is an invaluable resource. Roslyn also has vast experience helping customers make the best choices for their framing needs.

Lorraine White

Lorraine White

Assistant Framer

Lorraine is our resident textiles expert, with experience in weaving, knitting, corsetry, and surface ornamentation. Her current work focuses on the reinterpretation of Victorian era corsetry.

Lorraine is assistant to our picture framer and helps customers in the shop, when needed. Her expertise with textiles is very valuable with the blocking, lacing, and presentation of fabric pieces for framing.

Lauren Long

Lauren Long

Product Manager and Retail Assistant

Lauren is a sculptural and installation artist. Her current work involves the exploration of everyday materials placed outside of their original context. She creates large immersive environments and has a keen interest in viewer reactions to her work.

Lauren is responsible for ordering and maintaining art supplies in the shop as well as customer service and framing quoting.

Robynne McNicol

Robynne McNicol

Customer Service Specalist

Robynne is a stained glass specialist with 15 years experience. She works with traditional lead-lighting techniques but brings her own stylised designs to the art form. As the newest member to the Murray’s team, Robynne is keen to learn all aspects of customer service and picture framing.

Sharon Roberts

Sharon Roberts

Picture Framer

Sharon has shown paintings in solo and group exhibitions in Brisbane, locally & interstate since 2000. Working predominantly in oils, acrylics and gouache, she is best known for her minimal abstracted landscapes and colour fields.

Now based in western Queensland, Sharon has accepted the challenge again of painting full-time. She will come back to Murray’s intermittently to use her other skills as framer.
